Dear doorrepairgirl:

Why the hell did I want to write a story where Rodney and John wake up with implanted memories and think they're married?

I don't mean that as a rhetorical "why." I mean, why is a story with that log-line on my to-do list? What the fuck was supposed to happen in it? Because I have almost no memory of this idea whatsoever. Did it have a plot? And why am I poking around at old SG:A stories when I have S&A fic to finish? I guess the initials look a lot alike. . .

No, let's see. Implanted memories, think they're married... I dunno. Are they off-world or on Atlantis? Like, they're off on some planet, and they get kidnapped and get memories implanted, and Ronon & Teyla (or Ford & Teyla) drag them home and they [and I've just now spoken to you on the phone but I'm going to finish this comment anyway, goshdarnit] wake up in the infirmary all.. thinking they're married. And then stuff happens.

No, they were totally off-world, like, they had a little shack with a farm or a garden or something on some planet and they didn't really remember Atlantis, they thought they had always lived in their little gay shack together, and then they gradually figured out that something was up, and then some damn thing else happened. (Besides the hot gay sex, I mean. Something else.)

Maybe I forgot it because it didn't actually have a good story idea attached to it. Not compelling like Krycek with a snake in his head, anyway.

Oh! So, like, what the fuck is going on on SG-1 lately? I've seen like one and a half of the past several episodes. Are the Goa'uld bad now or something? Spoil me, please. . .

Yeah, I totally can't recall any particular plot attached to an offworld implanted memory/gardening story. I did manage to come up with a bit of a wacky comedy plot for an implanted memory story in Atlantis, silly though it may be:

See, John & Rodney get the implanted memories offworld - either they're kidnapped & experimented on & subsequently rescued, or they're stealthily tweaked by crafty but immoral scientists (though i'm not sure what purpose this serves for said crafty scientists, but anyway) - and they return to Atlantis and *no one notices* that they think they're married because mostly people just see them being concerned about each other in the infirmary or bickering in the mess hall, which, you know, is just how they are. But after a couple days John brings Rodney some coffee in the lab and Rodney distractedly thanks him, and John laughs and kisses him on the cheek and Zelenka's all, "hmm, that's new." So he gossips to Elizabeth about it, and Elizabeth says something to Ronon and Teyla, who are like, "um, what are you talking about?" I mean, they'd totally know if John and Rodney were getting it on. And then Elizabeth et al figure stuff out and maybe track down the crafty scientists. Or something.

But yeah, still far less compelling a plot than Krycek and Marita and snakey goodness.


As for SG-1... I'm not sure I can offer anything in depth (and I haven't yet watched last Friday's episode), but in general: The only goa'uld who's really around anymore is Ba'al (there was some cloning and trying to brainwash & re-enslave the Jaffa, as you do).

The Jaffa are now a free nation, and there's been lots of debate and talking and they really just need to make Bra'tac their official leader already (and they better not kill him off, dammit).

The Ori are still trying to convince everyone in our galaxy to worship them and Daniel Jackson is trying (and usually failing) to convince people not to worship them. I'm still hoping for the return of Vala to make the whole Ori plot less painfully boring.

Um. Other stuff has happened. There was a cool episode ("Collateral Damage") where Cam got some implanted memories (speak of the plot device devil), and another reasonably good one ("Stronghold") with a bunch of Cam backstory & a dying friend with whom he was unapologetically slashy. Oh! And you *need* to see "Ripple Effect," which has alternate universe stuff, and fun guest stars.
