(Continuing a thought I started in
tzikeh's comments...)
You know, whenever I catch an episode of Numb3rs, I tend to enjoy it; the science isn't bad enough to bother me, the themes are often interesting, and while it can be television-silly it's never made me go OH JOHN RINGO NO[1]. It seemed like in the latest ep they were signaling that they're taking some characters in intriguing directions that make sense with what I know of their arcs on the show so far, which is nice.
Anyone out there watching this show? Would it be worth it to get caught up on the seasons I've missed? Got any fic recommendations that don't, I mean, look, no offense, but that, like, you know, don't involve incest?
[1] I have the impression that earlier seasons were possibly not so great gender-wise but I can't recall any big-time ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS moments myself.

I sympathize with the problem - I'm scared to go looking for Narnia-fic myself.

You can jump in now and catch what you need from the falling anvils when it's time. :) That said, there was a character who recently left (Megan, played by Diane Farr) who I think is really missing from the show this season. She was the female team member, and she was the heart of the group. She also had a wonderful quirky and affectionate relationship with Larry. The new "street" cop is horrible in comparison, very one-note. Megan would be worth going back to see old eps for.
