very_improbableNo, I enjoyed this episode and all, but I am calling a moratorium on one thing, okay?
I am calling a moratorium on that expression that actresses are required to adopt when their character agrees to, like, a date, under circumstances that are not just a little sketchy but MANIFESTLY FRIGHTENING, that look of curious, agreeable puzzlement? you know, that "well, he showed up when I was jogging alone at night and knew my first name and has not said anything by way of explanation, I guess this could be a cute story if we hit it off?" look.
Can we not write things where actresses will have to do that look in order to pretend like their through-line in this scene...exists? I know a lot of other stupid things happen in any given LOST episode, but gosh for some funny reason this one gets under my skin a little.
Oh but they're soulmates! Yes indeed, they are soulmates. It's canon all right. Wouldn't it have been interesting if Penny had also come into some information about this, or if she had had a crazy reality-bending feeling she couldn't explain at the moment they touched, or anything that gave her something to play other than bemusement at this wacky and not at all completely creepy turn of events.
P.S. I would also like a pony.
