You know, here's the thing about tonight's BSG

very_improbable: I have conflicting feelings about this episode
very_improbable: I loved Gaeta to the end, and his plot
very_improbable: Except for the, you know, extremely UNFORTUNATE IMPLICATIONS.

doorrepairgirl: the story does come around again to gaeta's epic love for baltar
very_improbable: It really does.
doorrepairgirl: i was really sad to see gaeta go, but it did follow with his penchant for making bad decisions for good reasons
very_improbable: Yeah
very_improbable: I was really sad to see him go too
very_improbable: But he really did have a strong story and stayed true to himself, from what I remember of his first few appearances to this
very_improbable: And at least he didn't die in a ridiculous way
very_improbable: He didn't have to have a last minute change of heart and sacrifice himself for a lead character or anything
doorrepairgirl: yes, it was a dignified death
doorrepairgirl: even if he did have to die alongside richard hatch
very_improbable: Yeah
very_improbable: He exchanged that glance with Richard Hatch, but I think he died with Gaius in his line of sight
doorrepairgirl: yeah, zarek was there with his "hurrah, finally a martyr" smug smile, but gaeta died with dignity


(The other thing is, at the same time that I'm upset about Gaeta's disappearing queerness and the Sexual Deviants Must Die rule [and does it count as Sexual Deviants Must Die if most people watching the show don't know he's queer? but I feel like I could go around this moebius strip of Unfortunate Implications all day and not have an answer], I'd be a lot more upset if just Gaeta had died in this plotline, which was frankly what I was expecting to happen. The fact that he and Zarek go together makes a lot more sense to me than if it had been like ANYBODY CAN DIE EXCEPT WE REALLY JUST MEAN VISIBLE MINORITIES.)
