I don't think I'm quite going to have a Trek renaissance as much as a lot of people on my flist are (though I will continue to enjoy watching you guys have your fandom renaissances over there), but, okay, those of you who saw the movie opening weekend and have been keeping track, tell me where to find the best Original Universe Spock Plays Yenta in Some Way Between New Spock and New Kirk stories. I'm just assuming there's TONS of this by now? Clearly?

Requirements: This should go without saying, but New Uhura cannot be rendered invisible, unsympathetic or somehow-no-longer-awesome a la Scully in a bad Mulder/Krycek story. In fact, that might be my only demand. I think I would be equally willing to read a story where Old Spock wants to smoosh them together in order to "fix" how he never told Kirk he loved him/their love was torn apart by what-have-you/et cetera as I would a story where, like, Old Spock and Old Kirk were at it quite happily for many years and Old Spock wants things to work out the same way for Baby Spock and Baby Kirk but, you know, something appears to be presenting an obstacle to their getting with the program and that makes a plot happen. Bonus points if it's funny.

(I know Leonard Nimoy is old and whatever, but if there's Spock/Kirk/Spock out there by someone I trust I could be on board with that. Because--well, you know. Because it's there.)

In all fairness, JJ is really not responsible for That Other Show anymore; he's mainly occupied with Fringe. Cruse and Lindelof have been making those calls for a while.

Hmmm, I suppose that is true. You win this time, Abrams...
